Summer In Africa

The whole country is in the midst of a heatwave and we are definitely feeling it here on Nambiti! Temperatures have been in the high 30’s this whole week and it’s only getting hotter!

Summer has brought lots of weird and wonderful critters that keep the hot game drives interesting. From Lizards, snakes, chameleons and brightly coloured locusts to the chorus of frogs that ring in the evening.

It has been interesting to see how the animals cope with the extreme temperatures. This week’s drives have been characterized by Wildebeest and Zebras vying for shady spots under the acacia trees, Warthogs wallowing in cool mud wallows, Elephants swimming and taking mud baths and Cheetahs and Lions sleeping in the shade.
As for our guests, we find an ice cold gin and tonic under the thatch roof whilst watching the giraffes drink in our watering hole does the trick!
