05h30 is departure time on the morning South African safari game drive and very soon you are in the heart of the wild. Zebra, wildebeest, giraffe and a host of antelope are on the move before the heat of the sun forces them back into the undergrowth. An elegant table with homemade muffins is set up and the edge is taken off appetites, but not enough to spoil breakfast – don’t forget to ask for the ELEPHANT ROCK SPECIAL.
Then, back in the vehicle to continue tracking the Big 5 – back to the lodge for a sumptuous breakfast on the deck with all the trimmings. A few hours to recover – enjoy a quick nap in your suite or lounge by the pool with a glass of ice-cold refreshment.
In no time, it is time for a light lunch.
The complimentary Coffee & Tea station with homemade biscuits is always available for a nibble.
Perhaps the pod of hippos warming themselves on the shores of the dam, or the herd of Elephant will be our first sighting.
Before long it is sundowner time. What is better than a few cold drinks in the middle of the African bush? Dusk is fast approaching and it is back to the lodge.
On arrival at the lodge the friendly staff are ready to welcome you back with a Sherry and a warm towel.
Pre-dinner drinks at 7pm around the fire in the boma and an exquisitely presented dinner at one of our spectacular venues; round off a wonderful
day in the African bushveld.
Cannot fault one single thing! We had a brilliant stay! Fantastic sightings, really knowledgeable guide!
Excellent hospitality, especially with all the extra protocols to follow. The food was superb, tasty and beautifully presented with good choice and variety. Tasteful, immaculate accommodation which was welcoming and cosy when it was cold. The fire in the main lodge was excellent. Steph took us to lots of great sightings; she shared lots of new interesting facts about animals and the environment.
What an enjoyable experience! Thank you so much for making our 30th wedding anniversary so special. The hospitality, accommodation, food and game drives were all such an amazing treat -thank you!
The service staff were friendly, helpful and always cheerful! Comfortable and welcoming accommodation. Excellent housekeeping, nothing better than climbing into a well-made bed. Steph is the best ranger, her knowledge is second to none!
All staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. We were made to feel like “royalty” Rene was particularly attentive. The food was absolutely delicious and generous. Accomodation was very comfortable / clean / Covid protocols were excellent, loved the view. Game drives were great!
Stephanie was excellent, she controlled the vehicle like a veritable rally driver. René and Thembeni looked after us extremely well. The sweets, particularly, were very inventive and attractive – especially decorated with edible flowers from René’s garden.
Check in was a breeze and we instantly felt at home. Excellent game drives and lots of sightings, we laughed a lot with Keegan! Keegan was a fountain of knowledge and we felt super safe and taken care of. Thanks a million!
Everything was exceptional, would not hesitate to recommend Elephant Rock. We will return!
