At Elephant Rock, guests generally wake themselves up for their morning safari, although wake-up calls can be arranged if you would prefer one.
While guests are getting ready, your guide is already preparing for the morning.
The lodge is unlocked and the coffee and tea station is set up, with fresh milk and everything needed for guests who would like a coffee before heading out.
The hot box is packed for the morning coffee stop, with tea, coffee and everything else needed along the way. In the winter months, hot water bottles are also prepared to make the early start a little more comfortable.
The vehicle is parked, clean and ready 15–30 minutes before the drive begins.
And then, of course, there is the most important part — welcoming the guests.
A quick chat about how you slept, how you enjoyed your evening, and what you might particularly like to see is all part of settling into the morning.
Your guide will already have a plan in mind, shaped by the previous evening’s sightings and the conditions that morning. They will also have taken note of anything you may have mentioned during your stay — perhaps an animal you’re hoping to see, or something you particularly enjoyed on an earlier drive.
